Even better : report the serial number to Apple as stolen , if its offered for repairs they'll know.
When did you buy it ? If its less then 12 months and you paid with mastercard, its insured..

As pro suggested I have been having a war of words on the Easyjet Facebook page. They just keep sending what looks like computer generated messages with my name inserted giving telephone numbers that I'd been calling for over a week. Now they say they have done all they can. In fact they have done nothing to attempt to trace the iPad as I did it all. They are not prepared to try and follow up that the crew handed the bag in so it's a dead end with Easyjet. I've got the iPad locked and in lost mode so a message will appear should it be turned on. It's not been turned on since I lost it on 11th April. Weird.

I don't know anything about Apple products, but I guess they leave it off, take it to some dark whole in the ground, to prevent these protection systems to work. They'll hack it, blank it, then your locking might not work..

oh, wait ... EasyJet ? maybe not.
