TDV6 won't crank or give key back |
|
So, my TDV6 has been sat for 15months, and I haven't even moved it. Gave it the silent treatment and it's biting back!
Jump started it as you'd expect the battery to be dead to the world, but it started ok.
Went to put it into drive and the box was reaaaally tight! So put it back in park, and then it was stuck in park. Light went red on the P and not moving anytime soon.
So knocked it off, and went to take the key out, but it wouldn't give the key back!
Tried to re-start it and it won't even try to start. No starter motor, no crank, nothing.
Went and bought a new battery yesterday, fitted it, took the panel behind the epb switch off and took it out of park, put it back in park to start it up... nothing. No crank, no starter motor, nothing.
EML is on, and it's not having it.
My only thinking is maybe a can-bus error? Something stopping it from sending the signal to the starter?
Anyone any thoughts?
Thanks!

I suspect you need to free off the stiff gear selector linkage on the r/h side of the g/box, the starter inhibit switch is doing its job, ie the lever park position cannot be obtained properly. If you are able to select neutral, will it start then ?.......If you had to exert a lot of force to select, then the linkage may have slipped out of adjustment also, so that would have to be rectified, along with lubricating the auto gearbox selector pivot.
