Critique this 7 Year Service Quote
Spoke to Guava today to get a quote for my 7 year service which is due in June - But will probably get done a bit sooner,
After a bit of backwards and forwarding, their D4 Forum discounted price is coming in at £1,281 inc parts, labour & vat. It started off at around £1500.
They said that not all LR dealers carry out the same work when doing services. They said for example they change the cam belt rollers which most others don't, and end up changing the coolant etc as they change other parts. They also replace bits like the fan housing cowling as apparently it cant be removed without being broken etc.
I was writing as much down as I could when on the phone to them, but I got:
Cam Belt
Cam Belt Tensioner
Cam Belt Rollers
Aux Belt
Fuel Pump Belt
Fuel Pump Belt Tensioner
Coolant (because it has to be drained to replace something)
Oil, filter, pollen filter
So their 3+ year old cars labour rate is £105, then the D4 Forum discount should bring it below £100/Hour. (Normal labour rate is £125/Hour) 6 Hours have been quoted for the service work.
So its looking at about 50% Labour, 50% parts.
Im just looking for any further info checking that everything that should be being replaced is, and if the parts are really that expensive. (I know some parts can be got for less, but bear in mind its a LR dealer)
As an example, other local dealers are quoting Conrico £1,160, Wimbledon £1,128 Duckworths (Market Rasen near work) £1,058. But im not yet sure what they are replacing, I just got the quote for the 7 year service!

Had mine done on my drive and nothing needed to be broken to get it off. I'd say they are taking D4 MY15 SE TECH

I had mine done in August - paid £940 incl VAT
Full Service (incl. fuel filter)
Fixed Handbrake that was screaming (apparently a pig to fix this time)
Belts
X 2 Tensioners at £51 (ex VAT)
Timing Belt at £113.30
Fuel Pump Belt Kit £95.50
Also fitted Aux belt -but cant see on the invoice
Nothing broken to fit above, did charge for litre of anti-freeze at princely sum of £4.25
8 hours labour at £45 (ex VAT) an hour
So if they (Guava) are charging dealer rates, quote not too bad?
Also seem to have a good reputation on here

Unfortunately they aren't Guava anymore, if they were it would have been cheaper still. I haven't seen any change to their work since they became Hunters Peasmarsh. You could get the work done cheaper by using an Indy like Geoff or you can go to a dealer and pay more (not all dealerships are the same!) I guess it comes down to how much you want the stamp. As an aside don't a lot of people recommend you replace the oil pump too?DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

My local dealer has an online booking page on the website that lists all the services and shows the price. They're showing £1139.54 for the 112000 miles / 84 month service. They don't specify whether that is inc or ex VAT.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Thanks Chaps.
Some useful info. Unfortunately I haven't managed to find any decent independents near me, so I'm a little stuck. Guava/Hunters have always been good previously, costs aside!
Its really irritating though if all main dealers don't quote or complete the same tasks as its difficult to compare the prices.
I know for example the Guava/Hunters labour rate with 3+ year old rate, then forum discount is a fair bit less then other dealers near me, and also the parts are discounted. Therefore I can only assume they are doing a fair bit more to the car as they are at the top end of the prices I have had back.

Ah yes, I know. I still refer to them as Guava though as I don't want to get them confused with Hunters Guildford!
Im not so much fussed about the "stamp" as such. Ive taken my previous 2 cars away from main dealers last being a BMW ///M Car as they were useless and the specialists have been excellent.
If there was someone like West4x4 locally, I would defiantely use them. - I used them when I liven on the south coast.
Maybe I should get a price from Keith Gott. Are they still decent?

Yeah I've used Geoff before for brake etc, but I think the trouble is he isn't a VAT registered garage, so it will cause an issue with the warranty etc as its stipulated in the terms.

I would have loved Geoff or Flack to do mine but couldn't for the same reasons, sadly.
For info, just had my 7 Year service done by local(ish) independent.
- 7 Year service as per LR schedule (right down to oiling the door hinges etc.)
- All filters and oil
- Timing and Injection Pump belts
- Air con regassing (I asked for this, it was no longer icy)
- Both front suspension arms and bushes supplied and fitted (was MOT fail)
- 4 Wheel alignment
- MOT
All for the princely sum of £1541.71 inc. VAT
WD are paying 70% of the suspension arms (minus £100 excess as they reckon it's two separate claims )
Going for big test drive in a bit but very happy with service so far, comms good, and car collected adn dropped off again, with a courtesy (if not very tatty) gold, two-door FL1 left for me to use (not that I did, it sat hidden out of sight )
Hopefully I don't spot anything of concern. Expensive month though. Got this, warranty renewal, tax, and need to replace both read discs and pads soon. Also need 4 new tyres this year.D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten
