Lakes green lanes

Hi all.

I am joining 3 defender 90s on a trip to lakes in two weekends times.

We are looking a double a few lanes in no particular order
High tilberthwaite,
Old coach road.
Grizzdale forest

Brest high and parkamoor were also mentioned.

Although might avoid parkamoor as I understand it's tight.

Can anyone recommended anything else as a must do?

Thanks

Simon.

look in the off roading section, there are two stickies there with routes we did,

Breasthigh Road. U3278 os91 South West is good as is U5255 (from LRO March 13 number 12) on os 90 south east left the discoveries at the end and went out and back, what a great track with hairpins similar to San Francisco and the narrowest gap between a house and wall at the very end!

Thanks guys.

I have looked through the top sticky links and suggested some of them.

Good to know about the drainage at breast high and the wash outs on OCR.

Will the washouts cause issue on the old coach; i.e. Passable or don't use at risk of causing more damage to the surface?

Going with some experienced guys so no issues with that. Just don't want add fuel to the antis fire.

Thanks.

Last time we went in defenders we chose not to attempt going through the damaged section of the OCR, it would have made it worse, it may have been worked on since then though

Thanks Dave. Thumbs Up

Is it easy enough to turn around on if we find the washouts?

The Old Coach Road washouts are deep enough to be at risk of rolling your vehicle!

And like most green lanes, it's too narrow to turn round.

I would really avoid the OCR until it is repaired, unfortunately because it is in such a bad way people are driving it because it's a challenge and I think it's going to end up in a much worse state. Sad

Shocked I haven't driven the OCR for about 9 years now. Then it was in very good nick. A totally standard X5 followed me with no problems.

A lot of it is still the result of Storm Desmond and I can't see the council having the money to repair it for a long time Big Cry It is a fantastic lane to drive and hopefully we will be able to do it again soon.

Here it is from 2011

I do believe the local GLASS rep is in talks with CCC and as such negotiating repairs would make this a delicate issue, so best avoided IMHO. Not that this will stop to muppets Evil or Very Mad from doing what they want where they want Banging Head
