How many dots can you see?

There is no trick, you can even print the image out, highlight the dots and you will still only see one or two at a time.

1. Never tell everything you know.

Interesting.... if you zoom in on a large screen (so the image fills your view) you can see all twelve!

Oddly I had noticed the same phenomena when viewing a pic of the solar panel on the back of my Sprinter campervan. Confused

I can see all 12 at once and you can train your brain to do this with a bit of practice. It all starts by allowing your eyes to relax their focus and hold the image. If your eyes refocus on a spot then they will start to disappear again.

I've worked with guys who have learned to move each eye independently, which is more than odd.

Is this a pilot's skill or just something you've done?

The independent eye thing is most definitely for the army Apatche weirdos (monocle sight) but my own ability seem to come after flying on night vision goggles for far too long. The French Rafale pilots have some strange abilities with their eyes after using their rather odd (but effective) head-down display system.

It's amazing what the body can do if you have the right incentive to train it. I guess kids who play video games can look at various points of the screen at the same time is another example.

I think Ed Macey mentioned in his book showing a video of himself flying an Apache, with his eyes doing their thing, to his wife - who was promptly sick.

I can move my eyes independently, though only in the horizontal without other stimuli.Ttakes a lot of concentration for me, but worth the effort when it completely freaks my son and his friends out.

Using the monocle was the deal breaker for lots of aspiring Apache pilots it seems. Guys could fly brilliantly but fell out of the programme due to the monocle.
