Swinging weights edit

On the back of the D3, there are two hanging weights either side of the chassis rail.

Edited, so theyre harmonic dampers.
Has anyone removed them and experienced a difference in ride?

As far as I remember the weights wont affect the ride, but dampen vibrations generation at certain frequencies and thus reduce the noise in the cabin

One member was planning to remove them - thread, but didn't report back.

Yep, after reading some of the threads and reports, i think they must have quite a big effect.

I wasn't going to remove them on my vehicle, i was interested in what they were and their application.

I have agree with the more experienced on here, LR would not have spent the money they did on redesigning the D3 from the older versions, and simply slap some item on without first making sure it was needed and infact worked. (Well, ok so they might have messed up on some items longevity but thats not the point)

Id be interested to know wether the OP in that thread DrLex has indicated did actually remove them and what his outcome was.

I suspect that either he DID NOT remove them, or did after some headaches and now has red face as they screwed his ride up big time Very Happy

Have removed them when installing a 100l extra tank where the spare wheel is.
Have not noticed any difference. But I did many years ago.
