Despite my car only having one previous owner and 53k on the clock, some stuff never gets looked at by dealers. Did my first longish 140 mile round trip in it on Saturday and twice the 'reduced engine performance' message came up on the dash, both times on a long down hill slope when I was off the gas.
So as it was nice on Sunday I did a clean of the throttle body, cleaned MAF and changed the PCV
Now I am anal about cleaning and the order of stuff, so took me a hour and a half to do the lot, which included lots of looking at bits and really cleaning everything up. It's a doodle to do and requires nothing but a set of sockets, flat bladed driver and a torx for the PCV, which can be ordered from Dan at Duckworths and a can of MAF cleaner.
My throttle body was really dirty, yet with an old tooth brush and neat unleaded it came up like new, just ensure you do both edges by pivoting the butterfly by hand.
