06 SE Spare wheel won't fit on winch
Hi all, I am looking for a bit of advice here. The other morning i hit a pothole and killed a new tyre. Whilst i fitted my lovely space saver OK, a thought occurred that fitting a full sized spare would be a great idea! OK i though, i will try fitting the knackered wheel onto the winch to test it out and low and behold...... I can't get the winch block through the center of my wheel. They are standard pre 07 18" SE alloys.
Is this a known thing, all my searches seemed to suggest that fitting a full size spare was doable?
Cheers in advance
Neil

its tight on mine and I'd hate to do it on the hard shoulder with the dog in the back. Glad I practiced a few times on my drive. my favourite is lower it then drive 2ft forward, probably not recommended...

It will go through, slot the spring end through first then jiggle the plate through, you need plenty of slack on the cable. If your interested I have a brand new 06 SE wheel and tyre for sale, PM me if your interested.

Cheers all, I will have another go in the morning. I was lying under it at the side of the A1 but I was getting nowhere so the wheel got launched in the boot!
Thanks Phil but I had already committed to buying 4 to refurbish from the dreaded eBay, hence the worry!

OK, standard 18" wheel but standard 255 60 18 tyre? Oversized tyre would explain not fitting.

It will fit. It's just fiddly, which is not ideal for road side repairs. And if you do just launch the flat into the boot don't wind the winch up without any weight on it. That will kill it.
My 18's fit, even with 265/65/18's on them.
