Can I tow my disco 3

Hi all,
Just bought a disco 3 2004/5 manual, and I think the alternator has given up.can I tow it about 1 mile or will I damage something? Engine at present will not start?

If it won't start then you'll have no power steering, little in the way of brakes after the first use or two and you'll need to make sure that there's no way the steering lock will engage when turning a corner as well.
