Checking timing with diagnostic tool |
|
I had an engine failure due to incorrect timing and now I want to be able to check if the job has been done properly for my new engine. I have read there is a crank sensor (position) and there is also a cam sensor (not sure what it does).
My question is can any of the diagnostic tools check the timing just by plugging them in? If the cam sensor was a position sensor then it can't be much math from there?

No it cant be done, the cam position sensor is for the pcm fuel pump to all talk to each other nicely or it spits its dummy out.. If you want to check it you have to take the front belt cover off and insert the timing pin's.
