dogs to Morocco

Does anyone know what the restrictions are, if any, on taking dogs to Morocco from Spain, and, more importantly, bringing them back in?

Am potentially going there this summer, but need to back to take the dogs.....

Leaving the regulations to one side ...

Consider infections / parasites they can pick up in Southern Europe as well as Morocco

Also the heat (what time of year are you considering?)

Not saying don't take them, just be prepared ...

aware of the disease issues - heat is a potential problem, for sure, but leaving them not really an option (one rescue dog, wouldn't take too kindly to it - house sitter an option, however).

The eu doc was helpful, thanks.

So what's the outcome, allowed or not?
Have thought about taking our boy out there, but assumed it wasn't allowed.

Google dogs to Morocco, plenty of info which leads me to think you can take your dog to Morocco, but may not be able to get him back without quarantine period of 6 months. Morocco seems to be a rabies infected country.

Check the Defra web site it gives all info on returning to the Uk with your dog, what shots are required etc We spend 6 months in Spain during the winter as my lab likes to roll around on the beach I give him a heart worm tablet every month heart worm is transmitted by sand flys if a dog gets infected big problems.

When I went in 2007 I bought it at the border for 80 euros. I'm not sure if it was worth the paper it was written on!

In 2010 I got a 3rd party only green card from NFU. Took some negotiating to get it though. It felt a bit awkward driving a £25k car in the desert on tp only insurance.

Thanks Gareth - I got a full comp Green Card through my insurers SAGA in 2010 but they don't want to know now. What I was wondering if anyone had had any luck recently.
