UPDATE HELP Disco 4 severe wobble. Needs fixed by tomorrow!!

Morning all. Just collected my 71k miles D4 (2011).

Nice, but at 70+ there is a sever wobble. Like terrible wheel balancing.

Not convinced its the balancing as it comes and goes.

Any ideas?

Dealer or Personal purchase?

If Dealer - take it back?

Dealer. I will be taking it back, but I might just get the wheels balanced first to check.

I just wondered if there was a known fault.

Loose shoes in the EPB sometimes.
Get dealer to whip off rear discs, check and adjust.

I wouldn't do anything until your supplying dealer has been given the opportunity to sort it out. Getting the wheels balanced yourself may make them less inclined to help you and gives them somebody else to blame for it.

Just take it back and tell ask them to sort it out. Thumbs Up

I had this. Most disconcerting. It turned out to be one of the rear suspension links.

Update!

Took it to a good tyre place, asked them to balance.

Balance WAAAYYYYY off (145 gms) but tyre had a high spot, quite noticeable when spinning.

Tyres were really cheap chinese crap, and half worn, so they took the tyre off and it was full of white milky liquid. Seems like that tyre repair stuff. The fluid rolling round would have been enough to create wobble (so they said).

Anyway, the other front was the same, so I said put 2 new ones on. Turns out they only had Vredstein (sp?) Wintrac Extreme. Happy about that as I use in the Alps alot.

Rear tyres were the same (egg shaped and a pint of white fluid in). So 2 of the same on the rear.

Straight on the motorway home, smooth as silk Thumbs Up

I paid for the tyres, but the dealer has knocked them off the invoice (I haven't paid for it yet lol)

Thank you for all the help Bow down

i'll never understand why people buy cheap tyres. Tyres have such a fundemantal impact on handling and braking and therefore safety.

Glad you got it sorted. Thumbs Up

Even main dealers wont/dont care about tyres unless they are illegal from a wear or condition persective. I've seen D3 and D4's (2nd hand) for sale with incorrect spec tyres (too low weight rating, too small size), and on one occasion passed comment to the sales guy - could not give a hoot. As long as they had tread on and were round, that was all that mattered.
