| Problem with Hidden Winch |

Found a flaw with my hidden winch mount today  . First time it has really been used in anger (used it 6 or 7 times today recovering various stuck motors at Tong) and the problem is with the hawse fairlead. I fitted it flush to the bumper (as Wiggs did) but found that when under heavy load at anything other than dead straight ahead the winch line was bending and pulling the fairlead down into the bumper plastic. The threaded bar mounting it is not very supportive and by the end of the day the hawse ended up half hidden and crushed into the bumper.
Anyone who has one of these give me any tips on how to strengthen it? With hindsight I should have screwed the hawse to front of the bumper and packed behind with washers, wouldn't look as neat but would have been stonger. It isn't much good as it is  2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
