Compressor refurb, broken it, AMK or HITACHI
So refurbed the compressor today and last thing i did....took the thread off the exhaust valve bolt hole.
So had enough now, straight swap for new Hitachi and is the AMK upgrade worth it? 350 against 560
plan is to keep the car for a couple of years and then upgrade it.

I would say stick with hitachi as its a straight swap, cheaper and you will get a good few years out of it if you clean out the valve blocks etc it will last longer. Just my opinion.

Changed to the cheaper AMK from Advanced Factors (P2465). £ 415:- and 5% discount.
Real easy to swap. Works great.

i went down this route in trying to repair my hitachi compressor
alas had the same problems as u, so cut my loses and bought the replacement , being a dunlop
comes with a new relay
i also bought a new bracket as i could see the bracket was very loose , got one with new rubber bushes
made sure i bought 3 x chassis bracket clips, old ones rust away
3 x bolts , got stainless steel ones
if u take out the top insulation from the cover, i found it abit easier to fit the new one
once all finished use some soapy water
i was amazed at how quiet the new one is, can't hear it inside the car

Thanks for all the advice and help.
I've managed to source an exhaust outlet bolt and housing from a local independent .
So it's back together and on with the new exhaust spring in it.
Ally housing and steel bolt is not the best for separating after years together .
Just done a quick test drive and it's worse ! Still red fault and now struggles to raise.
I'll check for leaks tomorrow as it's going dark now .D4 HSE

by the time you fit a new compressor and bracket, a new AMK with 2 year warranty is not much more
