| Knocking from front end...any ideas? |

Got a nasty knock when pulling away on my front left side, seems to be from front wheel/drive and only happens when car is in drive and stops when in neutral and noise continues until speed builds up when it seems to ease, and comes back again when going uphill.
Dropped car at my independent specialist who showed me top bushes are absolutely shot - the movement in the whole assembly was quite alarming, £350 to replace them and ball joints, but when I explained that I felt it was a drive related issue he hopped into the car for a quick test drive.
'Oh, that's not good'... They will investigate that as well now.
This could be expensive... 
Anyone any ideas? You can't educate pork...
