Removing Wiper Blades - How the hell?

I've been shown by LR but it must be slight of hand because I can never see exactly how they get them off. I've been out and had a go - try to get my fat fingers to push up the little tab underneath and push the blade away from me and they don't budge - just pinch my fingers.

I'm sure its been asked before here but I've searched with no joy - you tube just show the 'old fashioned' ones with a clip you flip off - but bear no resemblance to mine... nothing in the handbook that came with the car from new....I'm stumped!! Big Cry with painful fingers and much cussing.....

The rear one must be even worse?

Anyone help with a diagram/drawing or something please....!

normally easier using a small screwdriver

carefully turn them nearly upside down as far as they go, then insert a small screwdriver into the release clip then pull the wiper blade towards u

if u ever wish to remove the actual arms so it's easier , put some plusgas and the use of a small puller

post a pic up here can then see what type of clip u have Thumbs Up

assume it's just the normal u shaped one

Are you sure they don't have the ones where you lift up a little hinged plastic lock tab ?

Thanks stuart and DrRobH.....

Yup - a little hinged plastic lock tab (its a MY16) - so I take it I lift up this up and pull it towards me not push it away? Rolling Eyes

Sorry about this chaps u must think I'm a right numpty (you'd be right!) Embarassed

Haven't worked on cars or even changed a wiper blade for many many years.... trust LR to produce cars where the wiper blades last less than I'm used to...... only ever got done at service times with Toyotas!

I'll give it another go tomorrow.

By the way, the rear ones not looking to good either - is this similar to remove does anyone know - please?

forgot about lifting up the small plastic clip Rolling with laughter

once u get one off u will see how they come off

they do need enough force to get them off, but not excessive

found the back one easier as u can see better , i fitted some bosch aerotwins on mine

if u look at the clip closely by pressing it in and pulling will come off

know it's easier said than done

Well -- managed to remove the drivers side wiper but the newer nearside one won't budge and as it was only put on yesterday by LR reluctant to 'force' it any more in case I snap off the tab - so will have to live with that until it needs replacing again when I have a replacement on hand as it were.

Thanks but yes I had already looked at that youtube video - it was for the ones with an overhead clasp as well - but the principles the same....

You don't squeeze the release clip you pull it away/out and then push the blade towards the arm pivot Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Its still a bast**d to do (for me anyway) as is evidenced by the bruising/sore - rubber blackened fingers trying to push the clip in/out - and push the bloody thing away from me...... just cannot move the nearside blade!

I must be getting old and my hands just aren't up to it .... FFS!..... it seems like yesterday I was pulling Lambretta 'scooters', Triumph M/Cycles, Morris Minors, Ford Anglias, V4 Corsairs etc etc apart - including their engines (late 1960s - early 1980s) - and now I can't even pull off a bloody wiper blade assembly.

I blame LR.....
