Temporary animal transport solutions - long distance

Hi all, in two weeks time I'll need to transport two cats 6.5hrs motorway 330mi road trip from A to B.

I know there are many permanent solutions out there. I just need a temporary solution here pls.

They longest drive was to vets 5min away lol.

Just to add it will be 2 adults 2 kids 2 cats.

I know there will be some banter etc but can we please start with sensible solutions and ideas first?

Thanks

Strong cardboard box with plenty holes for air, as long as the Cats don't mind being in it. Otherwise they will turn the box into cat litter.

Is a tenner too much to spend?

Although you will need two unless your cats are very good freinds. Wink

Of course £10 is too much, don't be silly.

You recon 6+hrs in one of them baskets will be alright

Or it may be a basket + calming drops/pills

They'll be fine for the journey, cats just sulk quietly if they're not happy (unless they're Siamese in which case you'll need ear plugs Wink ). Make sure they're well fed and watered and had the chance to go to the toilet before you load them. Put plenty of absorbent paper in the bottom of the cage.

And most importantly: DON'T LET THEM OUT OF THE CAGE until you arrive at your destination - you might have a battle trying to get them back in again!

Thanks for the tips, JonM.

As initial thought was to kinda give them whole boot to roam around etc.

Probably will stick to baskets and hope for the best.

My daughter has recently moved up from Essex to Warrington and took her nervous cat with her. After advice from her vet's she bought a large cat/small dog type basket, the plastic type, and the vet sold her some animal tranquillisers.5 hour journey in her Fiat 500 and she said the cat was asleep most of the journey. Not sure it was her driving, probably o'd' the pills Whistle Whistle
