MOT Failure - Advice Please

I've just had the bad news that I've have an MOT failure due to the following.

1. Air suspension unit deteriorated and likely to fail Offside Rear (2.4.D.1b)
2. Front constant velocity joint gaiter damaged to the extent that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc Offside (2.5.C.1a)

I'm not too mechanically minded and my independent has quoted me £660 all in to fix this and I wondered if this was a realistic figure.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

Number 1 is probably just the dust cover that's torn. They should not be a fail. CV gaiters is, but that's quite a lot of money for that I think?

i would say that is the cv gaiter he has failed as if its split the grease can go anywhere and every where and can become dangerous does he mean the he is fitting a new suspension leg and a new gaiter even then if he is it sounds a fair amount of money Thumbs Up

Find another Indy or take it to a main dealer and get another quote, you have the failure list,so easy to ask them to price for carrying out the work. You will know then if £600+ is taking the biscuit!

If the shocker really is knackered, which frankly I doubt, but more likely as commented the gater is torn, then they are about £200 each with vat and about 2hours work to change on a bad day. I would also change in pairs personally
