Aircon - that time of year again!

Hi all

I have a 54 plate D3 S so no sunroof and no rear air con (so I can at least rule out rear pipes)

I had my aircon 're-gassed' last year and within a couple of days - guess what it was gone again.

Took it back to garage thinking there was an obvious leak and they re-gassed.... only for same to happen.

Anyway..... question is....

Can anybody recommend anywhere in the Northwest (Manchester/Liverpool etc) where I can take it to get sorted?

I suspect its going to be condenser related so just want it sorting so I can have cool air once more....

Any info appreciated

Had this a few years ago, all sorted with the condenser being replaced. And the nice peeps at WD paid for it. Mr. Green Mr. Green

Hi Adam

I'm ashamed to admit I took it to Hallfrauds hoping that a regas would do the trick.

When I first took it back they said it was the fill valve that was leaking so they replaced..... clearly it wasn't that cos It happened again the day after...

I've just spoke to Pat from Cool and Breezy in Wigan on recommendation from here - so fingers crossed he can find the problem. As stated I suspect it may be the condenser but will see.

Thanks

Try Landranger in Atherton. Mine went last year and it was the condensor. If you've has it regassed recently get a UV torch and you might get lucky. The condensors go at the bottom where all the riubbish gathers.

As you are loosing it after only a couple of days def high pressure side leak.Very likely condensor as you suspect. You can sometimes see an oil stain on fins but suspect its so small a leak will need pressurising to locate.Good luck

I found my leak by pressurising with nitrogen and a squirty bottle of soapy water, took me an age to find it but its been fine since, 2 years now.

Well.... not wanting to tempt fate or anything.... but its been over a week since my visit to Pat in Wigan and the aircon is still 'fridge' cold Bow down

We vacuumed the system and added nitrogen this revealed a very very small loss somewhere, however despite an extensive search the leak could not be found.....

He recommended adding a sealant / dye along with a top up of refrigerant..... what can I say.... it appears to have worked and as I say, its been great since.

Watch this space.....
