Disco 3 - which is best & discreet permanent towbar

Hello all, I wonder if you can help.... Question

I am wanting to tow a double horsebox trailer with my recently purchased 2009 Discovery 3. Very Happy

Due to the weight and frequency of towing i would like a permanent towbar.

What is the most discreet permanent option around ?

I would rather not have an ugly "plough" type on the back unless i have to, as i am new to towing I am open to any hints or tips in relation to towbars & horseboxes etc

Many Thanks !

Been looking for a better solution to the fixed towbar on mine for over a year now. Like you, I tow two horses in the horse trailer and need something sturdy, but I would like something with a bit more ground clearance for green lanes. Tow-trust do a quite tide looking one, especially the flange detachable one, but as there is a detachable element, I worry that it could potentially be incorrectly fitted and then leave me with the same worries as the standard detachable LR one.

There's nothing better than the oem hd tow bar with the adjustable back plate removed as it is not necessary for trailers with a normal height tow bar. I don't know why the plate is supplied as standard it should be an extra and would halve the cost of the tow bar.

Thanks, that sound very helpful. Very Happy

Is there a link or picture of it without the adjustable plate, i have googled but am but not sure which one is the correct image ?

I anticipate only towing one trailer so changing height is not a priority

Thanks !

I just take the plate off mine, its the OEM. I tow an Ifor Williams HB505, a twin axle caravan and a triple axle Ifor Williams trailer. The tow bar does touch the ground if the terrain is bad enough, but its never stopped me and it doesn't happen on most off road sorties shooting, but the Tow-Trust one does look nicer.
