Erratic HDC fault that lowers suspension and puts engine int
Hi I need help as the Land Rover dealers cannot find this fault or define it.
When driving I occasionally get a HDC fault the power cut and the suspension then lowers. the car will still move and the engine still runs but the car is is safe mode. If you just restart the car it resets and is ok but it will come back quite soon after.
EG Saturday it occurred after about 50 mile and then a large number of time. Sunday I did 200 mile with out an issue.
It first happen when towing a boat to Italy in July. We got picked up by RAC they chanaged the Gas re circulation valves at huge cost and then it did not solve the problem. Climbing over the Alps was a nightmare.
has any one got any ideas of where to look.

Probably not, as long as its getting a plausible reading, the ECU wont know its wrong. It will assume the vehicle is not following the direction the wheels are pointing. I have had mine drop into limp home, suspension drop to the bump stops etc . and it only showed when towing.

What diagnostic codes were present when the car was with LR dealer? You need this information or have the codes read now to progress further.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I have the exact same issue. I have a video from our local garage of all of the fault codes (not LR specialist). I uploaded it to a page on Facebook and someone advised that it was the steering angle sensor needs calibrated. Don't have access to an IID tool though and the garage it's at doesn't either.

You might want to check and see if something like this is the cause....
The yellowish plastic castleated ring jumping about on the steering sensor should turn smoothly with the steering wheel movement (its up underneath the dash at the top of the steering column - this is viewed from below)
Wheel movement and sensor movement will be all over the place so the system has a hissy fit and throws an error as it thinks you are skidding sideways
Often get the ABS cutting in at the same time on one wheel as it thinks the car is in a skid!Must stop buying shiny toys....
