D4 MPG is Crap
So, just over a month of ownership and I have entered all my fuel receipts into Fuelly and to be honest I am really really disappointed.
I have filled up 10times since I picked it up and the best I have got from a tank is 28.4mpg, the worst so far being 25.2mpg
Now granted, every now and again my right foot has been heavy but only for 10 mins or so to clear traffic and the likes but never go above 80mph so I would not have expected the results I am getting.
There could be an issue with the way I am filling the car however, on the D3 there is no mis-fuelling device so it is really easy to brim the tank and therefore the results are far more accurate, on the D4 I cant do this so wait for second click every time I fill up.
Am I the only one experiencing crap Mpg?
I was getting 26-28 in the D3 with a heavy foot.

Getting pretty much the same mpg in my D4 (ok, MY11 with 6 speed box) as in my D3. 29.31mpg from the D3 for the last 2 years/32k miles and 29.75mpg from the D4 for 7 months/5,500 miles. Mostly sitting at 60mph on mways. We don't buy these to save the planet!

I agree about the planet thing Del, but the 3.0 twin turbo Ad Blu stop/start should be a helluva lot more economical I would have thought.

On the left is my MY2015 D4 with stop/start and on the right is my MY2016 with add blue and stop/start, admittedly I haven't done many miles in my new one but I'm not expecting to get much better
The 4 D4's I've had I've got the following figures
Like Del says we don't buy them for their fuel economy Cheers Ian

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to get 29.9 MPG on a 104 mile run on my D3 (hoping it would hit 30 but not to be)..
Usually around town and short runs average is about 22.

2016 D4 with DEF-Using Road Trip Lite, I averaged 27.79 mpg over 14,000 miles. Best was 31.01 mpg worst was 23.68 mog (a lot of off-road use). Typically 27-29 mpg on a good run.
Better than my D3, which was nearer 25 mpg on average.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

A couple of things to chew on. First you are right up north so the FBH will have been running a fair bit and consumption will always be a bit poor in cold climes. Second I am assuming you bought it brand new in which case the car needs about 2k to get run in and with 10 tanks of diesel you will have done about 4k so really the engine will only just be settling in so maybe an mpg comparison if the next month or so might be more realistic..

Had a couple of 36.something in the D3, strangely both in mid 30s heat. Lowest was 12mpg dragging the D3 over dune after dune after dune in Tunisia. Maximum smiles per gallon.

I think I might have had a mid 30's mpg run in the D3. Slip streaming a lorry at 55mph on the M4 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

So that's why DiscoJase bought his D4 with adaptive cruise.
