Got one on Courtesy Car...

Took one round Rockingham yesterday and now got one on courtesy car.

Definately a nice car but the cost Big Cry

Ive had a good look from the drivers seat but cannot see the dodgy rear end LOL

Nice ride albeit the 2017 model seems to have more road noise than 2018.

Going to keep my eyes peeled for a 2018MY SE which a few extras towards the end of the year.

Cant decide on 2.0 or 3.0 - need to drive a 2.0 but would welcome thoughts from those who have driven a 2.0

Still love the D4 though Bow down

You know it's 2.0 at very low speed and if you plant your foot hard in terms of the sound....but it's not unpleasant ....it is nimble in town and cruises beautifully ...very well matched to the 8 speed....noticeably quicker and far more economical than the D4 V6.... Try one Thumbs Up

I was all for the 3.0 but I had the 2.0 as a loaner whilst the Velar was in LR A&E. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Very nimble, quick and smooth, could only tell it was 4 pot at idle and when pushed.

I would consider one if I was to buy again.

Sounds like I need to get in a 2.0. Anyone towed with one?

It's amazing how engine technology has advanced, I was driving our Mini Cooper S today and it's torque from a small engine is incredible, it seems to pull strongly in any gear, regardless.

Given a choice, I'd still go for the bigger engine. The old saying "there's no replacement for displacement" is still true. I've got a hankering for a TDV8 though. Smile

I still miss my 3.6TDV8 and regret selling it. The SDV6 is ok but it feels a bit lacking all across the rev range. I reckon the 4.4SDV8 would be perfect. Thumbs Up

Yes, it's the newer 4.4SDV8 I'd like. Thumbs Up

Approved Used FFRR prices versus new D5 are swinging me towards the former. All hypothetical for another 11 months though and I may well do nothing and keep the D4 Smile

Torque difference between 2.0 & 3.0?

Do you mean 60kg? Surely the 3.0L isn't 600kgs more than the 2.0L?

Don't think you'd be disappointed in the 2.0 D5 - I've driven one for a good few miles and got in it thinking it would be pants but it isn't. Consider D3 V6 was 190bhp (?) and the D5 2.0d is 240bhp and lighter says, on paper, it is going to be good/better.OK.

Can't say I noticed any 'smoothness' issues either, even at idle.

Would come down to cost to make the choice for me really if it was a private purchase as I'd still prefer the V6.

Can't comment on towing as biggest thing I tow is a motorbike trailer...... Embarassed

You need to test-drive one but guess this option opens up choice to more people, as it was intended to Thumbs Up

Defo feels lighter, that’s the one thing I did notice over my old 3.0, but I think it’s 420kg lighter than the 3.0.

I still think the 2.0 should be cheaper than £1500, perhaps double that, in the Velar it’s massive price increases as you go up the engine range.
