Immobilizer P1623 Fault. Unable to start.
Hi, I am currently unable to start my disco 3 normally. When trying normally the immobiliser light flashes every 2 seconds from getting in the car to turning the key to position 3, car does not start and a relay clicks behind the glove box.
Strangely enough, if I disconnect the battery, Put the key to position 2, then reconnect the battery, the light goes out, then when turning the key to position 3 the light goes solid red and car starts.
The originally cause is possibly from the battery draining due to leaving the bonnet ajar for a couple of hours not allowing the car to sleep.
I’ve had to RAC out hence the
p1623 immobiliser write failure code.
Any ideas or knowledge is greatly appreciated,

Just for the record.
Turned out to be a f68 5amp fuse behind the glove box.
Not sure how I missed it on the first test but found it eventually.

Yes, nothing worse than scoring the internet and forums to find the same problem described on a post, and no solution to come after, hopefully help someone one day. Main lesson here was to double check all fuses before moving forward 👍

Get yourself a decent diagnostic tool if you don't already have one. (GAP)
The missing fuse would/should have been flagged, though it seems odd it was the actual cause of your problem.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

What software do you recommend, and where would you buy from?
I have been advised to get a mongoose cable and to download a copy of sdd?
I already have a dedicated xp laptop,
What is GAP?
Thanks

GAP IID tool BT is fantastic. Bluetooth to your phone. I brought one for my Disco 3 a month ago. I was having air suspension issues, fault was compressor exhaust valve, brought new compressor OEM and fitted myself. I've done much more with tool, found a few funny things, ghost rear parking aids which discovery forum guys helped me with. Great forum for me being on other side of world (New Zealand). Used tool to adjust ride height. Big cost initially but I've saved $100's already been able to solve things on my own. Thanks all, Great community of fellow Disco'ers.

GAP is a "dedicated" Land Rover only diagnostic tool specifically designed for this brand alone. It has full access to all the modules and is child's play to use. It's the tool of choice on here too for most members as well as those in the trade.
There is no yearly subscription unless you are looking for the Pro version. It connects with the car via your mobile phone or tablet, Apple or Android.
So the GAP IID BT (blue tooth) is what you want, and it will do everything you're ever likely to come across, and do it eminently. Perhaps the most important factor with this tool is the customer support, which is absolutely beyond reproach as many members on here will attest.
You can add additional vehicles for a small fee if necessary, but it will still do the basics on them without additional licences. If you ever decide to sell the car you will get most of what you paid by selling it on.
It's tiny, stores easily in the car, and can be VIN locked if it's ever stolen rendering it useless to the thief. Most of us leave it in the car (hidden) just in case you're ever stuck somewhere.
It is perhaps best to buy it from a number of UK dealers, Advance Factors, Island 4x4, BAS Remaps, etc, etc.
Or, have a look in the for sale sections on here as they do pop up regularly, but, they sell very quickly so you'd need to be fast! yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
