| Replacement wheel nuts - I don't understand |

At the weekend I had an issue with a wheel nut, the cap decided to spin on top of the nut and I couldn't get it off. A trip to the tyre garage, a chisel, a nut remover and a meter long breaker bar got it off. Whoever tightened it up last time must have use the wrong setting because it was MEGA tight.
Anyway, I look on this forum and I realise it's a common issue so I am now looking to replace the nuts, but I don't understand, so here are some questions:
Is there only one nut per wheel that this will happen to? (i.e. is there only one locking nut per wheel?)
Do I need to change all the nuts to solid?
Where is the best place to get a set from?

There is generally only one locker per wheel.
The lockers are well known to cause issues as the car gets older.
However, the rest of the nuts are also known to swell.
Mine is an 08 and I just replaced ALL of mine on recommendation of swollen nuts at the last service.
I watched the guy do it and it was the none lockers that were the issue, the nuts head had swollen and I think he used two or three different sized heads on the wrench to get them off.

For the sake of £50 or so its worth changing them rather than being stuck next time a wheel needs to come off.

Thanks for the reply.
So these nuts have a cap on them then? That's the bit I didn't understand because looking at mine all the caps are loose which made me think they were all locking nuts.
That link you sent was for 20, is that so you have 4 spares?

I think the the silver 'nut' you see is a cap which can spin and cause issues when they degrade over time (12 years in your case). Someone who knows what they are talking about will likely be able to confirm later 
The lockers are different, you pull the plastic cap off and you have the locking nut that requires the specific key to be applied, the one you probably keep in your glove box.
I bought 20 as mine has 4 wheels 
In all seriousness, that is sold as the full kit as there are 5 nuts per wheel.

Duh! Sorry - yes 20 would make sense wouldn't it! 
OK, so I'm confused again. All of my nuts are the same, none have a pop off cap that you put a locking key in - and I don't have a key. So that must mean that the one that went for a spin was a normal nut with this stainless cap?
However it didn't look like a normal nut when the guy chiseled the cap off.

You can get solid stainless steel ones. They cost more but no need to keep replacing them. I used to keep a few conventional ones in stock as a consumable item, its crazy.
