Chirp Squeak Screech
Mine squeaks from under the bonnet when I switch the ignition off, but only occasionally at the moment.
I've read loads of threads on here about belts and pulleys, during starting, idling and certain rev ranges, but not on switching off. Any Ideas?

My money (all 10p of it!) is on the lower tensioner, the squeak is the belt jumping back to its natural position as the engine stops.

Does it need replacing as a matter of urgency?

Noticed it was a little squeaky when cold idling today, seemed okay when warmed up later.
Is this something I should sort out immediately or do I have time for a DIY attempt over Easter?

Quick question. Is it okay to run the engine for a minute or so with the fan removed just to check the belt running (for squeaks etc.)

I would say if the engine is cold yes fine no issues.
If you look at the tensioner or idler with engine off and can see shiny pulley either side of where the belt runs that shows you its been skipping about, Mine had done 100k when I replaced both tensioners and the belt, I used genuine tensioner and idler and copy belt.
I do this job all the time at work on the trucks sometimes the belt and tensioner wont even last 1 year 100k and thats genuine parts, it may seem expensive but if it fails on the road its going to be a lot more expensive in time and hassle never mind what you screw up if you dont notice and cook the engine.
We call it preventative work and less breakdowns means you are doing a good job.
Of course if its a scania you are on a hiding to nothing no matter what you do
