Transmission Fluid Change

Hi

A Facebook friend suggested that I might think about getting the transmisison fluid changed on my MY10 D4 (85,000 miles). I'm not experiencing any problems, he just had a bad experience and was passing on some info.

Before I spend £300-£400, when would the fluid normally be changed? Is there an online resource which would show me the main pieces of work which should be done? I've had both A and B services done over the last couple of years and the timing belts were changed a few months back. Ideally, I'd like to know about preventative maintenance work before the garage tells me about it so that I don't get a shock.

You would be better getting it flushed rather than just changed. Loads of info on here.

Thumbs Up

At your mileage and age you are probably just beyond the point where just a simple transmission fluid change will do, so putting you into good flushing territory. If your gearbox has had an easy life with no heavy towing and little high-speed cruise control use then a simple drain and filll may still be ok.

Is it something which I could leave until the car is in for its MOT in July? I've only now become aware that this is something which might be needed as a result of a FB post, no other reason.
