Hi all,
As you may have seen in previous threads, the Disco we bought (somewhat naively) needs belts - although low mileage, its just over 7 years old.
Can I get away with just doing the timing belt, then do the other belt in a couple of months?
Thanks all
Simon

You can but unlike the 2.7 the rear belt is timed on the D4 and a lot harder to access and do. you also need a locking tool to get the rear belt in the timed position.

Ok, thanks for that. Does the rear belt do any damage if it lets go?
I'm just concerned that the timing belt needs attention immediately, if I could get the other done next month it'd be a lot more comfortable financially.
My own fault but I didn't expect this level of expense within weeks of owning it.

The rear belt has been known to do some damage if it snaps to the casing and the main wiring loom around there, but I personally have never seen it.
Put it this way if the front belt snaps your looking at a new engine so a few hundred for the belts is a better option.
