had this on mine I had to strip it all down again and found out the thread on the driveshaft was damaged from when the previous owner had a new bearing fitted and they did not unpeen the locknut

had to clean the thread with a junior hacksaw and make sure the nut travelled far enough up the shaft to preload the bearings been fine since,i originally thought it was due to a cheap bearing so fitted a Timken to find like you it still had play, thats when I realised the nut was not pulling up on the bearing enough
tools out again I'm afraid Sad
 please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

Just to keep this up to date! I took the hub off again this morning and cleaned all the threads up then rebuilt the hub! once again i have play there! so took the hub off and put it into a good vice gave it a good jiggle to find the new hub has play in it! so my lesson is never buy a cheap hub....i've now ordered a Timkin one from AF hopefully that solves my problem!

I've checked everything and can't see any reason why there should be play there! Once the hub was in the vice you could feel the movement with very little force! Plus the the new hub was differently shaped on the rear compared to the old!

I have had EXACTLY the same issue... I have assumed the issue was the hub nut stripping the drive shaft of its thread...

I wonder if its a bad batch? I'm not sure of the make of mine (I will still have the plastic bag in the garage bin.. ) FYI it was Not a Timken one!!

The Hub is still on the Disco.. I will take it off tomorrow and stick it in the vice to see if it is indeed the same issue.......

I think there is a crush washer on the back of the bearing hub this is why the nut has to pull up to the correct torque on the driveshaft so that the bearing is preloaded correctly thus taking the play from the hub (could be wrong tho) it should be obvious that the washer has been crushed up correctly
