Front parking sensors not active

Hello. I have just bought a D4, 2012 HSE, having previously owned a D3 HSE.

I am surprised to find that the front parking sensors are not active - as they were on my D3.

As I approach my garage door in my drive (ie reverse not selected beforehand) the front sensors on my D3 were active and indicated my distance from the door. On my D4 they are not active. Am I missing something here? Many thanks.

Not missing anything - they're not active unless you either select reverse first or turn them on manually.

Many thanks for your prompt response Markate.

... but why? It was active on my D3. It is active on my wifes' 66 plate VW Polo. What is the thinking behind making it inactive unless reverse is selected or manually selected?

Sorry can't help on that one but it's the same on all the current models.

Customers complained about the incessant noise when in slow moving traffic so JLR changed the logic from MY07 onwards.

Many thanks Robbie. I can see that is a plausible explanation.

But in these days of maximum choice availability, why oh why did they not make it an option to choose whether to make if active or not? Amazing!

You do get a choice, just select reverse or press the button whenever you need the front sensors. Simples.

Thumbs Up

Ha ha Robbie! You know what I mean. Always active (like with my D3) or not.
