Hi guys,
Looking for some advise,
I bought my D3 back in December, it was serviced about 6000 miles ago according to the service book but the engine oil is black, I was looking to service it again now for piece of mind, would I be better getting an A or B service and what is the difference in the service types ?
Cheers guys

Hi
Look at your service book and it should read A B A B yearly so one year A next B and so on
if it's missed a few I would go on how many months old it is mines coming up to 120 months so it's a B service
But the milage is near an A in the service interval table
They key is to use yearly rather than milage as LR advise
I do my own oil in between the service at the indie and I will take my own oil and insist on genuine filters
I won't cover much more the 4k a year .
Some would say false economy but I like oil changes overdone .
The B service is covers more and there are certain milage marker points for diffs ,transfer and auto box oil changes but it's way to long .Change early not to the schedule
That my thoughts bud

Oil does go black in diesels due to the soot in the combustion process.

Thank you for the help guys, that has cleared a few things up.
I might just leave it until it has been a year before I service it !
Cheers for the info daftlad, I think it is a B that it is due then
