Don.t cock it up as I did, I burnt the track soldering the new battery in. I had to then send it away to be repaired The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.
If you are holding the fob in one hand whilst trying to prise it open with a tool, please wear the thickest glove you own to prevent stabbing/slicing yourself. Obviously, no need to ask me how I know this.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana
I used a stanly knife to score around the welded join....the key was originally ultrasonically welded together....
A Stanley knife blade won't pry it open.....
Whatever you do don't insert the top of the blade into the innards.....
With patience you cut the plastic.....just he plastic.
With a large screwdriver blade inserted maybe 1mm into the cut weld.....twist the welded joint
Working your way around the key it will eventually open up
Whatever you do don't insert anything into the void of the key
Eventually it will split open.....(maybe 8-10 mins of being carefull & patient)
The PCB assembly simply lifts out...
Reassembly into new key case is simple...it simply pops in
The key blade assembly is a bit fiddly....
The spring provided or using the rescued one is wind just one turn to pre-load the spring so it pops back when button pressed.
Try holding the key case together to check the PCB in place & key springs open...
Re glue using araldite rapid....five minute setting time.....not superglue
The battery can be recharged out of the car using a Braun electric toothbrush charger...just balance the key against it....leave overnight
Maybe the key case swap takes 15-20 minutes...
Take care with stanly knife blade....BREXIT - done properly.
