change of towing electrics |
|
Hi,
I have a disco 4. 2011. It came with old style N and S electrics. I have bought the kit for 13 pin electrics, which is essentially the same kit bar the last stage, with one rather than two sockets.
Having looked at the installation diagram, it seems that I will have to remove the rear bumper to access the plate that holds the connectors to the last stage in order to disconnect the N and S connectors and reconnect the new 13 pin connector.
I cannot seem to find a guide on how to remove the rear bumper on a 2011 disco 4. Can anyone help?
Also, the car having been programmed for towing electrics presumably needs no reprogramming simply for a change to 13 pin?

Did the same on my 11 plate. Just removed rear n/s light cluster then fiddled everything out from behind bumper and replaced with new loom. You probably won't be able to push the rivet clamps into the holes but just use some tiewraps instead.

Cheers for that I have had a look and a rekon with a bit of fiddling I can do it.
Did you need to have the computer changed to let the car know it had full 13 pin?

Mine hadn't been 'told' when it still had n and s sockets on. They still work ok but the rear parking sensors and fogs stay on.
My local indy did it for me when I took it in for a service foc Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

Yes, it will need re-programming. Some things will work, but others (like reversing sensors cutting out) won't.

Hi all.
so have successfully switched over the bottom half of the kit and everything seems to be working.
Am i right that I do not need to replace the top half of the kit as it is identical to the existing N and S electrics?
