TDV6 Euro 3 / Euro 4
Hello Guys... So is the following true?...
A Discovery 3 2005 TDV6 has a Euro 3 engine?
A Discovery 3 2008 TDV6 has a Euro 4 engine?
What is the difference in the engines, and is there anyway to make my 2005 TDV6 Euro 4 compliant?
Cheers

Some 2007 cars built after about August are Euro 4, main differences are a different high pressure fuel pump, injectors that are about three times the price of Euro 3 injectors, different fuel filter arrangement, and engine management software that does not allow you to blank the EGR valves without a software modification.

I was just reading that from October 2017 the UK Government is introducing an extra £10 per day congestion charge for diesel cars driven in the Central London "Congestion Charge Zone" that do not meet Euro 4... and on top of that, from 2020 there will be an extra £12.50 per day if you happen to drive into the "Ultra Low Emission Zone" in London with a diesel car that is not at least Euro 6...

If you were thinking of converting it to avoid the London diesel tax the I think it is a non starter, I seem to remember that if you adapt a vehicle to later emissions standards you have to get the new emissions independently certified and the recertified every year and submit those certificates to TFL so your vehicle is recorded on their database with the correct emission details. It might be financially viable on a £250,000 luxury tour bus but not on an older Discovery.
