ok. i may not be the most electrically minded person.
but i am not a quitter! 
i broke out the multimeter and identified a permanent live in about 2mins.
job all done. so thanks for all the help 
for anyone else looking to do this. the camera routing bit is easy, i even routed the cable through the boot lid so there are no visible wires.
the bit that took some messing around was the fuses. but thats my fault

I have piggybacked off fuse 28 for the permanent supply and 60 for the ignition switched supply.

Make sure you get the right size though as you can get normal blade piggybacks and Micro fuse sized ones...
I got mine from Amazon...... you will need two fuses per piggyback fuse used though... one the same amperage of the fuse your replacing the piggyback with to protect the original circuit and then another fuse to protect the new equipment you're adding.....
