Iggy, does the cost of change to buy the D4 really add up to enough value in order to make the change worthwhile?
I ask this becuase many moons ago I considered the same question: Keep my old bus or buy a new D4?
The cost of change was £40,000 and I thought that it seemed a daft amount of money to spend on a more blinged version of my D3. I therefore kept my old bus and put the £40,000 into my pension and decided to wait until the D5 came out (how disappointing was that?!). Yes my old bus is 12 years old and not as plush, but it drives well, is stupidly reliable because I look after it mechanically and does exactly the same job as a D4.
If you want a D4, face lift yours (do it well and no one will know) and put a bit of money aside just in case for repairs. In the end you'll have a car that is equally capable, looks the part and more importantly you'll be quids in. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Nice one Woody
Moo, great points, car was £42k, but add in monthly and balloon payment and it ends up around £47k. Don't get me wrong a gorgeous car, but hell of a lot of money
Another option is to save for a bit or just hang on to my D3.....not looked at AutoTrader since yesterday and have emailed LR tho day no
Need a few days of thought
