Help to identify wires under seats
Hello, I recently bought a 2007 Discovery 3 HSE TDV6 and am in the process of trying to locate the cause of lack of sound from the stereo and satnav stuck on the landrover logo. I have followed the advice on here to troubleshoot the system and while looking for physical causes, I have had a couple of unexpected finds under the front seats. (see pics)
Under the drivers seat there is a thick cable that has been severed. It is black and has several smaller coloured wires inside. It runs out of the bottom of the base of the fridge/centre console, laying on top of the carpet under the first rail of the seat and finishes almost touching the logic 7 amp.
My first thought was that this had been severed by the seat at some point and may be related to either my lack of sound or to the fact the heated seat isn't working. However, as I cant locate the other end of the cable where it has been severed from I am now wondering if this cable should be there at all? perhaps it was an aftermarket phone or aux cable that had the connector severed? does anyone else have a cable like this in their car?
Also, under the passenger seat, next to what i assume to be the navigation cd player, i found a power 'plug' that was just floating about, seemingly with nowhere to be plugged into... any ideas what this is for?

for the first one, have you got a phone holder on the underside of the arm rest ?

yes i have ! i did think it might be to do with that but the cable going into it looked thicker.

The thick black covered cable look like a bit of 7 core used for towing electrics or a multicore on old phone or CB/Amateur radio installations. Are there any extraneous holes anywhere?

There aren't any signs of anything having been fitted inside the car and it doesn't have a tow bar although i suppose it could have had one at some point. Sounds like whatever it is its something aftermarket then and not to do with my radio issues! i'll trace it back when I get some time, see where the other end goes!
