I have seen this thread and on the basis of this report it looks like you need a tool/ improvised tool to extract filter. I tried to improvise but failed. I'm sure once you have seen it done its pretty straight forward..

If you have seen the other thread then you know what's needed. It's just a case of working at it gently til the sun, moon, earth, the 4 clips and whatever you are using to release them all line up and then it can be pulled out.

I've got the 'special tool' but it still came off the tool and threw used engine oil all over the fence. Needless to say, the wheelie bin has been placed in front of the splatter for the last 3 years and SWMBO still hasn't noticed it.... yet.

I thought how the hell does that come out, gave it a few pokes with a screwdriver and it popped out, pushed the new one in and heard a nice clunk as it went home

I pondered over this for a good hour. In the end it came out with pure aggression. Stabbed a screw driver through the filter and levered it out.D4.5 Facelift, Lazer ST4, Prospeed underbody and rack, IID BT, Compomotive/BFG KO2, Series MFlaps, RAI, Dog Gd+XBB, Alive Tuned, T-Max/YellowTop, RemoteFBH, GlassesMod, WheelWinchMod, Jack Mod, LED Mods, Seized Crank Mod....

Are you sure these tools fit the D4?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
This site normally provides fairly clear answers - but not this time at least not yet?
Is there a tool?
or can it just be pulled out.
A little odd as these cars have been around since 2010 - or maybe it's just me being thick!

In relation to the 'Special tool' above does anyone have one, who could perhaps measure it and stick the dimensions up?
Quite an easy tool to make up with bits and bobs lying around

My bad. His profile shows a 2005 D3, I didn't notice he mentioned a D4 in the thread
Anyway, here's my tool.. Next time I pop up to yours we can give it a go. It'll probably fit yours better than it fits mine
