Can you get the AA/RAC etc out to see what they can do to free it up!Pretty common but it can get very bad, I had a disc glowing red after a few miles. You really want to risk it?

It could be a sticking brake pad or the calliper might be binding on! Thumbs Up

Given the age 2005 same as mine it was the parking brake at fault though I did have squeaks now and then. The retaining clips holding the shoes had rusted and the shoe was slow to release/sticking and warming up the drum but not as much as yours.

Likely to be the parking brake and possibly the lining has come away from the shoe. This happened to one of mine and the heat caused the plastic cover on the adjusting hole to melt resulting in a burn plastic smell.

Sounds like a sticky brake fault, had the same sort of thing on mine but at the front, ended up being a seized calliper.

Hope you get it sorted

I've had both rear calipers start binding, and the EPB, too. The pads can also stick within their carrier-shims. You need someone to diagnose the problem, not throw parts at it. My rear brakes were a nightmare from day-one, up until the time I started caring for them myself. Thumbs Up
