Controlling FBH as a park heater in early Discovery 3
In the wiki is written that “Only the very earliest Discovery 3's are factory-fitted with a WBUS control wire in pin 2 of the 8-pin FBH connectorâ€: http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Fue...ifications
So my D3 is one of those and I really have a red wire already fitted to FBH connector. Wiki says also that “Very early Discovery 3's had park heater settings in the Settings Menu†but I can’t find such function in my setting menu.
Do you know if it is possible to reach such functionality and how exactly to use it or it is irreparably lost?
If it is inaccessible for some reason, is it possible to use the factory fitted to pin 2 red wire for adding Webasto timer 1533? I tried to trace the mentioned red wire but it goes together with many other wires no one knows where. Do you know where I can find the other end of the red wire?
If somebody have early Discovery 3’s and have experience using FBH as parking heater, please help with advice what to do.

Either disconnect the pin with the original red wire and fold it out of the way (as I did) or just cut into it as others have done. Either way it is no drama to add a timer or a BAS Remote FBH controller as below:

You have red cable, but also software updated by LR "enhancement program" !
Therefore, no SETTING menu!
Follow the "instructions" and put an "oval timer!" Marco.

Thank you, guys!
I just spoke with our official distributor and I've been told that they remove the controlling option from the setting menu because of the problems with battery when use FBH as park heater.
So it seems I will no need factory fitted red wire and I can cut it and use it with Webasto 1533 timer.

The problem that caused the FBH Settings menu option to be removed was that the clock which controlled when the FBH was supposed to come on in held in the CD player, and that goes to sleep, rendering the function useless!
You can cut (or splice) into the red wire without problem 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

What a great thread! You really can find almost anything about a D3 on this site. I bought an unused webasto 1533 timer from one of our european friends (£45 inc post , cant afford to go remote control ). Read the excellent PDF by Stapldm on here, looked under the hood today and WOH! already a red wire poking out the plug! So I guess I just get the red wire as far back as I can and chop it, then wire as if I'd done it myself (I shan't tell anyone )
This will mean I have £1.30 worth of connector pin just bought from here for sale
