There is plenty of stuff on here about keys. Try the search function.

Here is one I commented in a while ago.

Don.t cock it up as I did, I burnt the track soldering the new battery in. I had to then send it away to be repaired Big Cry

If you are holding the fob in one hand whilst trying to prise it open with a tool, please wear the thickest glove you own to prevent stabbing/slicing yourself. Obviously, no need to ask me how I know this.

Done this twice now...

I used a stanly knife to score around the welded join....the key was originally ultrasonically welded together....
A Stanley knife blade won't pry it open.....
Whatever you do don't insert the top of the blade into the innards.....
With patience you cut the plastic.....just he plastic.

With a large screwdriver blade inserted maybe 1mm into the cut weld.....twist the welded joint
Working your way around the key it will eventually open up
Whatever you do don't insert anything into the void of the key

Eventually it will split open.....(maybe 8-10 mins of being carefull & patient)

The PCB assembly simply lifts out...

Reassembly into new key case is simple...it simply pops in
The key blade assembly is a bit fiddly....
The spring provided or using the rescued one is wind just one turn to pre-load the spring so it pops back when button pressed.

Try holding the key case together to check the PCB in place & key springs open...

Re glue using araldite rapid....five minute setting time.....not superglue

The battery can be recharged out of the car using a Braun electric toothbrush charger...just balance the key against it....leave overnight

Maybe the key case swap takes 15-20 minutes...

Take care with stanly knife blade....
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
