Relay 16
Can someone quickly tell me exactly where and what type of relay is RL16. I have the heater fan fault so I'm going to get my mate to swap the relay but he said make sure I get the right shape and voltage etc and he'll swap it over for me. Cheers

I could say that if you aren't capable of swapping a relay yourself you are unlikely to be able to order the correct relay.
But I won't say that.
You could swap it with the rear fan relay though.
Both are in the relay box under the bonnet

I'm pretty sure I could change it myself but as my mates a mechanic I'd rather he just did it. Can anyone just tell me what I need and I can pick one up now while I'm out?

Anyone? Can't seem to pull the old one out to see what it is, should it just pull out as it's really stiff?

Also, the fan sometimes works perfectly and sometimes not at all so there's no point swapping it for another one in the fuse box as i would need to try it for a few days to know for sure if it's worked.

you don't have your car model/year on your profile
1. If you don't have rear heater vents in the roof then LR fit a spare new relay for it anyway, which you could use for the front and know it's the correct one.
2. At a guess it will be a 12V 40A relay. But you could read that off it.
The trouble is there are 2 different pin configurations which aren't obvious with the naked eye. And I can't remember which one LR use.
If I had to guess, I reckon it would probably be like this:

Rock it carefully side to side until it wants to come out.

The point would be it could be an instant fix, to ensure your fans works for the over the next few mornings which are likely to be cold!
Be careful removing them though!

Thanks, I'll have another go at pulling it out today and take it to Halfords. It's a 55 plate Disco 3 S and I don't think there's roof vents in the rear.

What is the point of spending loads of money at Half**ds for rubbish, when you have a decent spare relay in the fusebox

I'll have a look for the spare while I'm in the fuse box. What would it be marked as, I'm sure they were all allocated to something on the boxlid diagram

The rear / spare will be an outline of a disco with wavy lines in the rear of the car

The "spare one" is the top red box.

If you don't have heating control and vents in the rear of your disco it won't be used.
If you do, it's more important the front one is working!

I should be ok mate, but thanks. Got it out this afternoon and tried buying one but couldn't find one in stock. I'll look again tomorrow for the spare you mentioned and try that for a few days if there is one.
