Has it got full service history with LR?- if yes take the matter up with Pete at LR customer services on here, LR fixed SIL TDV6 my06 with this failure with a replacment engine without any charge as it is not classed as a service item It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Is there not a local garage with a ramp who could take the body off reasonably quickly to get the engine out with much less effort?

Put the question onto the Aulro forum [url]https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/ they are fitting the Territory diesel when SDV6 breaks.Do not know about replacing the petrol V6,must be some way around it.

Good luck with the engine swap.
Car looks too clean to let go. Give the new engine a once over and check the bits that have been mentioned and hopefully it should be good for many more miles.

I know this is an old thread, but for giggles I'm posting...
Will also be trying to remove the engine from the "front" as I have no other option. I have a 2007 D3 (or LR3 as they are known here) with a dead 4.0L V6, going to try transplanting a Ford Explorer engine using as many Land Rover parts as I really, really need, eliminating the incredibly expensive option (approximately $14,000) of getting an engine from Land Rover here in Canada. I have done quite a bit of research and basically the engines are exactly the same, but ancillary items are LR specific, or so I'm led to believe. If things don't work out, I'll be selling this beast off for parts, hopefully recovering many of the costs for my "Explorer" investigations...
I do have access to some old school electronic test equipment, and I'll bet one of my best friends is going to be my old solid state dual trace oscilloscope... Just guessing...
