Is this a genuine alternator ??

D3 broke down few weeks ago working a treat before hand alternator bolts sheared bolts replaced with alternator and tentioner at LR CENTRE
Been getting upon start up the engine sounds like it's 'hunting' and intermittent parking brake fault message and amber brake warning light flashing causing LCD , radio and satnav screen flickering then once driving 800m ish it stops and calms down but reappears on the next start up if left a few hours on a few occasions it's come up with the error parking brake malfunction then goes off

I know they play up with aftermarket alternators so asked the LR centre who assured me it's a genuine one phoned the mechanic in the work shop who told me it was a denso as he's had to change lots of aftermarket ones so they only fit denso?

The garage told me it's because it's cold and the system is 14v and you have a 12v battery
So therefore I need to let it idle for a few minutes for it to 'catch ' up??
The warnings are the car telling you it's not ready?

That's what the mechanic at LR centre told me?

It was cold before it broke down with no faults

I think the satnav screen flickering is kinda normal after a freezing start.

Clearly warning lights aren't normal, but it could be other things or an old battery

When it went in for the initial brake down the battery died as hazards were in etc whilst awaiting tow

After a week of faults I decided to change the battery and fitted an excide which was reccomended on here but still does the same

Its your alternator that is causing your problems, its not a Denso one.. A lot of the so called LR alternators being sold cheaper than they should be will have been rejected by LR quality control and sold on..

Flack Thumbs Up

Have a look at my thread which is still on this page. I bought exactly the same alternator from the same place and have already swapped it with them once with exactly the same problem. The second one from them does exactly the same thing. I'm lucky as I have another car I can use so just left the D3 where it is till I get chance to take it off. (I'm getting good at it now) I've just ordered a Denso one from AF today.

They were fine with swapping it first time round, I did take a IID dignostic print out with me that showed the overvoltage errors though so more difficult to argue about it I suppose. I will have to see what they are like later this week or early next week when I call in for a refund.
£110 sounds a little steep?
