Special programs not working on my 2005 disco 3 auto |
|
I have a disco 3 automatic 2005 about 6 months ago it had a new transfer box - since then the special programs do not work the message comes up on the dash. It drives ok but I am now looking to sell it and need to get it fixed - my mechanic mate who looks after the car is not having much luck - any suggestions? Thank you

Due to the D3's capacity to leak like a sieve, the switch pack can succumb to moisture ingress. Sometimes a good clean will bring it back to life or failing that replacement with a new one.
A good clean sorted mine so I didn't need to investigate further. Discovery 4 HSE

What's your battery voltage? De-Tango
V8 Brakes
EGRs blanked
Running boards
3 flash indicators and clock on dash
Blingy grille...

Could be a cleaning is in order if there has been water ingress as suggested by Dusty.
But also - below the terrain response knobs in the center console there is a circuit board. This board has three layers of print circuitry on it. On mine, one of the lanes in the middle layer of circuitry broke. Believe it was between a contact and one of the pins on a IC on the board. Since the lane is inside the board and cannot be gotten to, I shunted it with a pice of wire.
Not sure if the symptom you are describing always points to problems with the components in the center console, and a bit fiddly analysis to undertake, but a suggestion could be to try the center console from another vehicle and see if it helps.
