Help or advice needed. I've seen a lot of similar threads but I'm struggling to get my power problem resolved.
Symptoms - a cold engine, typically in the morning, struggles to start and sometimes takes a couple of attempts. When driving, until the engine is up to normal operating temperature, the engine is very sluggish, staying at around 1500 rpm and taking 5 seconds or so before it very slowly starts to accelerate. As soon as the engine is up to temperature, all symptoms stop.
Work to date. Since this started happening I have had it in the local garage several times.
Battery was out of condition so had it replaced.
A fault code indicated one of the EGR valves was faulty. It was indeed stuck fully open and has been replaced. Still had the issues.
The garage performed a leak-off test on the injectors. In doing so the leak-off pipes broke so I paid £330 for a new set of pipes and clips! Test clear.
This morning, took two attempts to start. Loads of exhaust smoke. Juddering idling engine. Pulled out onto the main road and had the same, sluggish performance until the engine was up to temp.
Any thoughts on what my next steps should be?[/list] D3 2007 HSE Zermatt

Thanks Bodsy. Diagnostics aren't showing a further EGR fault? Is that normal?
I've replaced one side as I read somewhere that my MY needs an ECU patch and couldn't be a&*ed! I blanked off my old TD5 EGR but things were a lot simpler back then
How can I be sure that the other valve is sticking? D3 2007 HSE Zermatt

Temporary blank it off with a 2p coin, better still blank them both off and make sure the turbo actuator is free and well lubricated
Are all the glow plugs working, glow plugs stay on and assist ignition even after the engine has started. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

glow plugs won't cause as serious an issue as this.
Blank EGR's correctly for £15.
See if it fixes the problem. Worry about the patch later if it sorts it
