ok may well have been covered before
whats the max dia you can get on a d3
without having to cut the arches or fit big spacers
it has 255/55/18 109v on at the moment on SE wheels

forget the max size, just get some correct spec tyres on.
255/55x18 109 are D2 spec, you should have 255/60x18s at at least 111 (I think the 18's are rated at 112)

Don't forget if you fit non-standard size wheels and/or tyres you should advise your insurers.

Well tyres that are on we're fitted by the garage I got it from when they sold it
What I want is a taller tyre to give a bit more ground clearance and a better tread for off road

why not go back to the garage if they fitted your tyres new when you brought it and ask for some of the correct spec (as right now you've under spec'd tyres fitted, not sure what your insurance would think if they were the cause of an accident), as they will be a bit taller.

They were put on for the mot by garage but that was 12 months ago

265/65/18's fit fine, no rubbing and are the tallest that can be fitted without surgery.
