No Drive - brake light switch? |
|
Hi guys, a couple of times in the last week I have put D3 into drive and had no response from the accelerator. Very odd - put it back into P and then try again and it has pulled away as usual, any suggestions?
I was wondering if perhaps the brake light switch could be sticking? But its only a guess as I know they are prone to problems with that switch. 2014 D4 HSE Facelift Corris Grey

Could be the pivot of the selector under the auto box. If it feels stiff (it shouldn't) then lubricate or replace (cheap parts). Load of DIY posts on here. Sorted mine out.

just a follow up which might be useful to others.
I ran for a few days using SPORT mode as I found it did not drop out of gear in that, but eventually that too gave problems. Also had erratic gear changes at higher speeds.
Took underside cover off (easy, 6 small bolts) and sprayed liberally the selector mechanism with WD40 and also a spray copaslip grease. Then moved the gear lever back and forth a few times, and repeated.
Ordered the parts from LR as per the other thread, and now have them, but after a day or 2 the gear lever feels better than it ever has, very smooth, and no further problems, so will keep the parts to be fitted if required in the future.
Surprised this is not on the regular service schedule as a lubrication point to be honest, its very easy, apparently very common, and has made a huge difference.
Hope it helps someone in future. 2014 D4 HSE Facelift Corris Grey
