Rear Camera Not Available
Got the caption 'rear camera not available - consult dealer' on the satnav. Came on once with the service reminder and was ok for a couple of weeks but now displayed more often than not.
No fault codes so presuming the camera is ok and that it is a PDC sensor somewhere or a wiring fault / short to ground.
It would be great if I could take it to Robbie so he could do the work for me.
Is there a favourite place to start the hunting as there was on the D3?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Traced it to an erratic left front inner sensor. IID live data helped enormously as the problem is intermittent. Ordered a replacement sensor - LR038084 if anyone is interested.
Never removed a D4 front bumper before - what fun awaits...

The small witness mark on the steel bumper, complete with green copper:

The PDC loom:

The corroded copper:

I cut out the worst bit and made a repair. I also added some protective tape and adjusted the loom routing:

Managed to get it car shaped again, restored the CCF for the front sensors and ran some checks in IID live data:

Sorted. 8)
The D4 front bumper is a bit more of a faff compared to the D3. Another set of hands would have helped. Didn't need the spare sensor I purchased, ahh well.

Hi Robbie,
I have been looking at this as I had the same 'camera not available' thing.
I have looked on live values on my iiD tool but cannot see for the life of me anywhere for the PDC sensors?
See photo of my live values. A guidance would be great. Also cannot see oil levels anywhere?
Finally when you say refreshed CCF once you had done the work, can you briefly tell me why/how?
Cheers

Hi Robbie,
I'm looking to take my front bumper off shortly (for a GS front parking sensor update) - did you have a guide to walk through what to unscrew and when From looking at a youtube vid of a D3 bumper removal it looked bit tricky for the wheel arch removal so any advice on that would be appreciated

The CCF change was because I had previously disabled the front sensors to restore a functioning camera and rear sensors whilst a waited for a chance to do the repair. Once the fronts had been fixed I just set everything back to normal.
The live values list are odd as the parking sensors are listed as a distinct ECU on mine but it is missing from your list. Suggest you make sure your app and IID Tool are up to date and see what happens when you refresh the list.

I did look at the workshop manual but it was hopeless. It said to remove both front wheels and the arch liners but I managed to do it without - just unscrewed the PH2 screws in the wheel arch with a sideways driver, popped the two plastic fasteners from the arch and undid the screw on the inside of the wing behind the headlight before pulling the arch off from rear to front so that you can manoeuvre it free from the front corner. The manual provides zero detail on how to untangle or reorder the various bits of plastic in the bottom front corners so everything was a case of pulling the trim slightly to find which fasteners needed to come out.
The bumper has fasteners on top and below with a single machine screw at each end and you need to disconnect the harness behind the righthand light and the screen wash pipes behind the left. Clearly you have to remove the lights, grille and recovery eye cover to get to the starting point and I always disconnect the battery before this kind of job as you never know what you may disturb!
From memory you need a T30, PH2 and 8mm socket for the array of screws and ideally a trim tool for the plastic rivets, plus a torch to identify what needs to come out.

Thanks Robbie.
Updated firmware and found the culprit - Front Outer Sensor.
I also noticed that it says I have 19 inch wheels however I have 20 " so changed that (scary) but can the centre display be upgraded sharpened (thought I saw something)?
Also seen loads of software updates available - I take it only LR can do these?
Cheers

The wheel size parameter is not used, well not in that sense. Please don't take what the CCF says as gospel either. JLR have made zero effort to make it specific to the vehicle, or even the model or make. It was never intended to be viewable or editable by end users. Some settings can really ruin your day, so don't be tempted to tweak things just to make them look right.
Software updates can be done by Gap via their fast-track service; again only change things when you have a specific need as these are not 'updates' in the sense of improvements. They are just changes that may or may not work with your vehicle.
