I have a 58plate 2009 spec GS which is lacking some toys. I currently have a large gap between the air vents and would like to fit a system that looks Factory fit. I want to have sat nav, reversing camera and DVD player for rear head rest that are already fitted, sat nav would be a bonus but I have a £50 Garmin that I was given at Christmas. I've seen the Garmin sat nav with D4 surround done by others on here but I'm not a fan. I've seen this on eBay for £400. Anyone fitted one?
Only having a basic GS I know from previous mods that most of the wiring isn't there. What would I need to fit original satnav/reversing canera? And what sort of cost? Can the nav player be used as a DVD drive for the rear monitors instead of connecting a portable DVD through the rear aux panel?

More information on what you want to fit would be useful.
I want to fit a screen that look factory fit and that can display rear view camera, used to display dvds, sat nav and have a DVD player linked to front and rear screens that is mounted out of sight. Possible under front seat or in top glove box. Having a GS I don't think I'd be able to have 4x4 screen that comes on factory fitted high end spec cars.

You could try a D4 screen they have been retro fited to D3 se and above as it does most of what you want not sure it will work completely i'm sure someone will come along with more info as i think you only need a gps signal a abs feed and a power supply and a few others but you would only be doing what your thinking about and the sat nav drive wont play dvd's on the D3 sat navDiscovery 3 se gone

Nick, I think if you actually saw, in the flesh so to speak, one of the Garmins installed using the D4 surround, you wouldn't hesitate and would be on the look out for parts to do the same install.
It really does look factory fit and is much more flexible than the factory nav which, if we're being honest, was seriously outdated when it was launched.
With the Garmin range you can add extras like a reverse camera for only the price of the camera. With the factory nav, you need a stupidly expensive GVIF unit as well as the camera. With the Garmins you can also add the Ecoroute that plugs into the cars OBD and gives various engine datas which are displayed on the screen as a nifty looking series of gauges. There's a video showing the Ecoroute and what it will give you here: LINKY
The only thing you need a factory screen for is 4x4 info as nobody has managed to isolate this to any other device yet. The factory nav is also a bit like stick and line drawings where as the Garmins have superb detailed maps and lane selection options. You can also have a D3 icon as your vehicle with the Garmins.
Looks like this:
Also, buy the right model of Garmin and you get Freeview TV too.
To add that to a factory screen would cost a small fortune and depending which Garmin TV model you get, you can also port the TV to your rear screens too. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails

I'm not scared, I'm outta here.

It's an after market system that looks factory fit. It has sat nav, rear camera, Bluetooth, DVD player and radio apparently. Also comes with a cable to run rear head rest screens off it as well
They look almost identical so not sure why the price difference. I'm still very tempted as not a fan of the thick large surround on the garmin D4 system some people have fitted to their D3's.
